Some of the most meaningful innovations at arculus never make headlines, yet they shape how every arculee functions in the real world. Here is a look at the 6 cool things we do at arculus that quietly work behind the scenes to ensure efficient robot operation.
At arculus, we build robots that are efficient, reliable, and ready to navigate the intricate environments of warehouses. Much of that capability comes from the much-talked-about features such as navigation, autonomous behaviour, and precision. But equally important are the innovations that live deeper in the system. These are the tools, design choices, and technical foundations that help the arculees and our Fleet Manager stand out.
This post highlights these less-visible strengths that play a key role in the stability, safety, and long-term performance of our robots.
6 Behind-the-Scenes Innovations at arculus
1. Data Control and Sustainability through Self-designed Electronics
Designing our own electronics gives us complete control over power efficiency and data handling. Components like the Robot Control Unit (RCU) are optimised for extremely low idle consumption, which extends operational life on limited battery capacity.

One crucial feature here is the deep sleep. On command, the robot can reduce its power draw to a very low level and can later restart itself remotely. Since the electronics are designed in-house, we can tailor these functions precisely to the needs of arculee.
2. Safety with brakes
Safety is built into the core of every arculee. A key element of our safety system is the precise detection of the brake state, ensuring consistent stopping behaviour and dependable operation, especially in environments with mixed traffic. Moreover, at arculus, we optimise and economise brake power consumption, reducing it by a factor of ten.
3. Crashdump for Easy Troubleshooting
Crashdump is a powerful, scalable component that arculus has developed for managing high-load logging across the complete system. It manages every stage of the log lifecycle, from collecting and encrypting data to sorting, compressing, storing, and displaying it, all with zero data loss and built-in redundancy and security.
Additionally, it has a dedicated, proprietary interface for querying data and metadata. This makes it easy to diagnose and fix issues quickly, in real time, from anywhere, with secure, reliable data available throughout the entire pipeline.
4. Demo in No Time
The arculus demo kit allows rapid AMR setup for both customer demos and internal development. Everything fits into a single box, allowing you to map areas, set up layouts, and run workflows within minutes. It is the system we take to exhibitions and customer sites. The kit enables testing in real environments, ensuring quick and real-time feedback and insights.

5. ROS 2 = Modularity
Staying at the forefront of robotics means continuously improving our software architecture. Moving the arculee brain to ROS 2 is one example of how arculus does it.
ROS 2 provides a clear separation between the autonomy and platform layers, simplifying development and making it easier to adapt to new hardware in the future. It also brings lifecycle management and more modular integration of complex customer modules.
6. Faster Testing with OTA Software Updates
Over-the-air (OTA) software updates keep systems up to date without the need for on-site visits. Both backend services and most arculee project features can be updated remotely. This supports faster testing in real environments and keeps fleets aligned throughout deployment.
Quiet Work, Big Impact
These behind-the-scenes technologies may not be the first features people notice, but they shape how arculee performs every day. They strengthen safety, boost efficiency, and keep the system adaptable as requirements evolve. Together, they reflect our drive to refine the foundations so that arculus stays ready with better and faster solutions for the future.
